Rubens House Blog Summer Term 2022

In the final days of the Spring term, Rubens were crowned LAX champions. House Captain Ginny (LVI) worked tirelessly to keep the team focused and Bea (LVI) ensured that the girls kept a good pace and drive during the final nail biting match with Butler.

We even had some of our newest members of Rubens come to support us on the side lines! Thanks to Mia (UIII) and Clemmie (UIII) for keeping the morale high! Ayla (LVI) and Lisa (LVI) took the UIII under their wings and really demonstrated why Rubens are such wonderful big sisters to the girls in House. Ayla and Lisa also explained the House tradition of pink face paint to our newest recruits.

Before the girls departed for Easter break, the whole school took part in House singing. Rubens offered a version of Queen’s Don’t Stop Me Now. The performance was characteristically full throttle and featured guitar solos and flying pigs. Deserving special praise is our wonderful House conductor Ellie (LVI) who worked incredibly hard to teach the House this dynamic song.

Wycombe celebrated 125 years of educating young women with our show 125 Live! which featured over 100 students. Many Rubens girls took part including some of our newest joiners in the Upper 3. Well done Rozzie, Clemmie and Mia for enthusiastically representing Rubens as storytellers in the school show!

During the first weekend of term, the girls had lots of fun at school with a selection of farm animals who arrived to entertain all of the girls. There was a lot of appreciation for all the beautiful beasts on site and of course, the ice cream van. Rubens also showed their knowledge and wits during the House quiz and went on to be crowned champions for 2022! Congratulations to Ellie (LVI) Olivia (UV) Mia and Sky (UIV).

The U3 have really enjoyed getting to know their senior House this term. On Friday the 6th May, the newest little sisters came to join us for the evening in Rubens. The LIV showed them around the House and made them feel very welcome with Percy pigs, pink outfits and of course some lovely chocolate cake! We are so excited to see the girls join the boarding House in September!
