As ever, this Half Term in Pitt, has been a somewhat busy one. The girls have been competing in a vast range of sporting, musical and dramatic fixtures, concerts, exams and events. The girls literally do not sit still! To see the girls embrace every opportunity that is afforded to them at Wycombe Abbey is always a real pleasure and one of the many memories I will take away with me. So, without further ado, this Half Term in a snap shot…
LAX Nationals
A huge congratulations to Pitt girls Annabel, Mia Elisabeth, Valentina, Genevieve, Tahlia, Anissa, Todi, Cate, Anushka and Tacita who represented Wycombe Abbey at the Lacrosse Nationals! The teams played with skill, determination, and teamwork throughout the competition. The Firsts reached the Championship last 16, narrowly missing a quarter-final spot after a tough match against Westonbirt.
The Seconds also put up a strong fight, placing fourth in their group and just missing out on the Quarter Finals.
The Thirds had a fantastic run, finishing second in their group and battling through to the quarter-finals after a hard-fought 2-1 win against Putney, placing them in the top eight nationally!
Well done to all the girls for their brilliant performances, and a big thank you to families and supporters on the sidelines. After a jam-packed few days, we were glad to welcome the girls back to house for a long shower, a deep sleep, and a few days off before picking up a lacrosse stick again!
UK Space Design Competition national finals at Imperial College.
Congratulations to the team of budding engineers who won first place at the UK Space Design Competition National Finals at Imperial College recently.
The team were tasked with designing a mining settlement in the Asteroid Belt, collaborating with schools across the country. Well done to Melody and Mable, who formed part of the winning team. We will be excited to learn if the girls make it to the international stage of the competition. A special congratulations to Mable for receiving the Randall Perry award for Quiet Leadership; an incredible achievement!
House Singing and Music Success
Music has been in full swing this Half Term, with the girls working hard in preparation for the annual House Singing competition. Their rendition of Flashlight by Jessie J is coming together beautifully, and those at House Dinner were lucky enough to get an exclusive sneak peek ahead of the big performance on the final evening of Term. A huge ‘Thank You’ to Melody and Sophie for organising rehearsals and leading the way! Fingers crossed for a victory!
We also celebrate a fantastic achievement by Allegra, who secured 1st place in the Senior category at the South East Schools’ Chamber Music Competition! Competing against 65 groups, she delivered a breathtaking performance of Mendelssohn’s First Piano Trio, earning rapturous applause. This marks Wycombe Abbey’s fourth consecutive win and the third victory for our pupils in this prestigious event—an incredible achievement!
House Dinner
On Monday 17 March, Pitt celebrated our annual House Dinner, bringing together pupils, parents and teachers for a fantastic evening. We enjoyed a delicious meal, wonderful musical performances, and a spirited rendition of Flashlight, our House Shout song. The evening ended with the exciting announcement of our raffle winners and the claiming of various amazing prizes.
As a result of the raffle, we’re proud to have raised over £1,700 for our School Charities, Mary’s Meals and Wycombe Refugee Partnership—a record-breaking total for a House Dinner! Thank you so much to everyone who made this possible by purchasing raffle tickets or donating prizes: this wouldn’t have been possible without you.
We are so grateful to our House Staff who organised such an incredible event, especially Miss Allen for her final House Dinner. Thank you to everyone who attended and made the night a huge success!

Australian Exchange
Over the past Half Term, we have had the pleasure of welcoming Maddie to Pitt as part of the Australian exchange programme. Warmly hosted by Anushka and her family, Maddie has fully embraced all aspects of Wycombe Abbey life, and we are pleased to hear a little more about her experiences here:
These past few weeks at Wycombe Abbey have been absolutely amazing. Everything from the teachers, the campus, the activities and especially the students have made it a truly unforgettable experience. Everyone has been kind and welcoming, always willing to lend a hand and helping me have a wonderful time in class, sports, House and free time. I’ve had so much fun getting involved in different sports like Tennis and Netball in House Games, as well as learning sports like Rounders and Lacrosse. I have also been lucky enough to be involved in many weekend activities like making treats in cookery, watching tense games of Lacrosse, listening to amazing student bands at Rock Soc and paintballing. Additionally, outside of School I’ve had the opportunity to visit breathtaking places around the UK including London, Birmingham, Oxford, Bath and Marlow. Across all these places I’ve done escape rooms, gone on walking tours, gone shopping and even watched an exciting soccer game at Adam’s Park Stadium. Overall, this exchange has been one of the best experiences of my life and I will always remember the things I’ve done, the places I’ve been, and the people I have been lucky enough to meet.

House Outing
On the final Monday evening of Term, Pitt set out to London for an evening of Teppanyaki at Benihana in Chelsea. Once the coach had dodged the rush-hour traffic, we arrived and settled in to a wonderful evening of food and spectacle. The chefs entertained us with clever tricks and impressive cooking skills, even adding a bit of fire to the evening. It was a lovely chance for the girls to enjoy good food and spend some relaxed time with their family trees.
As our Term draws to a close, the last week always remains busy. However, we would not have it any other way. The girls are ready for their Easter holidays, with an abundance of trips to enjoy, some revision to be completed and, importantly, some much needed rest. We are all excited for the Summer Term ahead and cannot wait to see the girls return for the summer festivities. Have a great holiday.
