The end of the Spring Term
28 March 2025 - Junior
The second half of the Spring Term began with the departure of the rain, bringing us some much-needed dry and sunny days. It’s been wonderful to finally make use of the Junior House garden and the swings.

We enjoyed two Open Weekends with trips to the Corel Reef and miniature golf. Our final Closed Weekend featured the Highlights dance show where Junior House girls performed alongside the older girls. Additionally, there was a Lower School Quiz, giving the girls a chance to work in Senior House groups with the Lower IV and test their general knowledge. Sunday was filled with fun activities, offering a myriad of choices from zorbing and cookery to creating vision boards and self-defence.

The final Monday evening of the Term was our House Innings event, themed around the musical ‘Wicked’; even our supper got a magical makeover with green and pink the prominent colours! We also made the most of the newly refurbished Archer Recital Hall, transforming it into an incredible in-house cinema. A big thank you to Miss Wilson for organising the delightful interval treats and the fun ‘Wicked’-themed photo props.

In my last blog, I explored the impact of our Lower VI Head of House. This time, I’d like to focus on our Lower IV mentors, who were appointed at the end of the Autumn Term. These mentors are assigned to dorms and given various challenges each term to help them get to know the Junior House girls. They provide opportunities for the younger pupils to spend time with them both in House and at School, serving as an additional support to help them navigate life at Wycombe Abbey.
This term there have been two challenges – a Book-themed Teddy Bear dress up in honour of World Book Day and Wycombe Abbey’s first Giving Day that concentrated on raising funds for the Schools libraries. I was impressed to see the creative use of props and it was good to see the girls so involved with the activity.

The second was to work in dorm groups to create an acrostic Poem. The range of different poems was impressive and I have included a few below that I thought you would enjoy reading.

Going back to Junior House has been really fun. The UIIIs are very enjoyable to be around, and I find it very rewarding to have the experience to help them be more confident in their life at Wycombe Abbey. It’s been great to see them hanging out together and being a part of that. I talked to a few of them and gave some advice to them about Wycombe and Junior House. It feels a bit odd to be back sometimes, but I find that it helps me to remember just how much I enjoyed my time in Junior House and I hope they do to. – Athena
I really enjoy being a LIV mentor because I find that it’s a wonderful experience being able to interact with the UIIIs in relaxed relationship and I take a lot of pride in being someone that they can look up to. I appreciate the opportunity to go up to Junior House again to visit the UIIIs even after I have moved on from my time at Junior House. Overall, I have had a wonderful time so far being a LIV mentor and helping the Junior House girls with their challenges. – Anjola
As the Spring Term ends, it is good to have the opportunity to reflect on the wonderful experiences we’ve shared, and the vibrant House spirit have made this term special. We look forward to more adventures and memorable moments in this cohort’s final term in Junior House.
