Cloister House in March

What an eventful and exciting term it has been in Cloister! Over the past week, we have enjoyed a House Outing to Laser Quest, an Upper V trip to Nando’s, an Easter egg hunt, and dorm feasts. In addition to these activities, the girls have been exceptionally busy preparing for House Singing on Thursday evening. Alice, Vivienne, Kelly and Tina have taken on leading roles, guiding the House in their performance of “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” from Mulan even conducting a rehearsal on the bus!
Below is a summary of the key events of the term, written by a selection of Cloister girls:
Fifth Form Play
This Spring Term, Fifth Form pupils had the opportunity to take part in the annual Fifth Form play. This year’s performance was Alice by Laura Wade, in which several Cloister pupils participated. Alice is a contemporary reimagining of Lewis Carroll’s classic Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland and, to make the performance even more exciting, the Drama Department introduced a revolving stage to enhance the actors’ performance as well as the visual effects. The show was an outstanding success, and we look forward to future drama productions featuring Cloister pupils—especially the musical and the Lower V House Plays!
Evening Activities
This Term in Cloister, we have enjoyed a variety of evening activities. From games nights on Wednesdays to Fruity Fridays, there has been a wide range of events to look forward to. Some of our highlights this term have included Jellycat cake decorating, chips and dips, and, of course, Pancake Day crêpe night. These evening activities are not only enjoyable but also help build a stronger sense of community and foster many inter-year friendships within the House. They create some of our favourite memories and are the perfect way to relax after a long day. We look forward to many more exciting activities next Term!
House Cross Country
Earlier this Term, House Cross Country took place, with everyone participating in the fun run, and some opting to compete in the main House cross country race. It was fantastic to see Cloister showing such strong support, with many girls from each year group taking part.
In the Lower IV and Upper IV race, Alice M, Annelie, Phoenix, Isabelle, Alice B, Alice C, and Flora represented Cloister, with Alice M winning the overall junior race. For the intermediate category, Issy, Rosa, Emma, Christabel, Grace, and Hayat competed, while in the senior category, Emma and Alice M participated.
Overall, it was a fantastic day, and everyone performed exceptionally well.
World Book Day
For World Book Day, we dressed up as the dinosaurs from Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton. This is always a much-anticipated event, as the week is filled with fun activities, including hot chocolate and cosy reading sessions, as well as competitive book-themed challenges.
Although our incredible inflatable dinosaur costumes didn’t win this year, we still had a fantastic time participating in all the activities planned for us. One of our favourite highlights was the World Book Day toasties in the house, arranged by Miss Pritsou.
All in all, we had a brilliant time celebrating the magic of books, and we are already looking forward to next year—when we are determined to finally win the costume competition!
Sports Report
This Term, House Games have been full of energy and enthusiasm. We kicked off the term with cross country, where every runner gave their all, demonstrating incredible house spirit. Alice M (Lower IV) delivered a standout performance, securing 1st place in the junior race after a fantastic run.
Following this, Cloister proudly achieved 3rd place in the House Netball Funals! The team displayed great sportsmanship, teamwork, and determination throughout each match, pushing through to the very end.
Looking ahead, our tennis players are training hard in preparation for the House Tennis Funals, which will take place at the start of next Term. We are excited to see how they perform, and we are certain the sideline support will be as enthusiastic as ever.
Overall, it has been a fantastic Term for House Games in Cloister. Everyone has been highly engaged, and it has been wonderful to see the Cloister house spirit thriving.
