Wendover

Wonderful Wendover

It is hard to believe we have already reached the end of our first half term at Wendover House; the weeks have flown by in a flurry of laughter, creativity, and camaraderie, and I couldn’t be prouder of how our girls have embraced the new Academic Year.

One of the most exciting developments this term has been the unveiling of our brand new studies and TV room. A lot of time and effort have been put in to make sure these spaces create a feeling of a home from home. Both the Fifth Form and Fourth Form studies have spaces for the girls to work silently or to collaborate with each other. The Wendover TV room has quickly become the heart of the House; every day there is a different group of girls bonding over a new TV obsession. There is something special about watching friendships deepen over shared snacks and a classic movie night!

Meanwhile, UIV House Dance practice is in full swing, and the energy is infectious. Whether they’re perfecting choreography or experimenting with new moves, the girls have shown incredible dedication and flair (even adding in a few early morning rehearsals!) I have no doubt that Wendover will shine on stage when the time comes next half term.

Wendover House Spirit is positively soaring! Our new Head of House, Maddie, brings so much fun and laughter to each day in House and it is really inspiring the rest of the girls to get stuck into whatever is on offer.

“Hi everyone!! I’m Maddie and I am this year’s Head of Wendover House. Part of my duties as Head of House include organising house activities and looking out for the general wellbeing of my peers. My favourite part of Wendover is the genuine sense of sisterhood we have and how enthusiastic and willing everyone is to partake in House activities. As Head of House, I hope to continue fostering this sense of community and celebrating the rich diversity we have in House.”

Thursdays have taken on a new rhythm this term, thanks to our wonderful LVI girls. They have truly made the day their own, curating a series of activities that have brought so much fun and variety to the house. From the competitive thrill of Mario Kart tournaments to the high-energy workouts with The Fitness Marshall, there’s been something for everyone. Creative souls have enjoyed bracelet making sessions, while our more culinary-inclined girls delighted in hot chocolates, eating mooncakes and creating paper lanterns in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. These moments of shared joy and cultural exploration have added a rich layer to our weekly routine, and I’m so grateful to the LVI for their initiative and spirit.

As we head into the half term break, I hope each girl takes a moment to reflect on all they’ve achieved. From academic milestones to personal growth, from forging new friendships to contributing to our vibrant House culture, they’ve laid the foundation for a truly memorable year. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the incredible staff in Wendover who make working in this House such a joy: Miss Franks, Mrs Amor, Miss Goddard, Ms Small and Mrs Gronmark. I really could not do my job without them, and I know how much the girls appreciate all that they do!

Wishing all our girls and their families a restful and rejuvenating break. I am already looking forward to some festive fun next half term!

Warmest wishes,

Jess Woodward
