Summer Term 2025
‘Feels like Summer‘
What a Wycombe whirlwind of a final Term it has been – packed with celebration, sunshine, and more than a few bittersweet goodbyes. The last few weeks in Butler have been a joyful mix of tradition, laughter, and memory-making, and I can safely say – we ended the year in true Butler style.
House Dinner brought the community together for an evening of joy, sparkle, and some beautiful performances from the girls. Everyone dazzled in their dresses, and we celebrated achievements, shared memories, and raised a toast to each other. The evening was a real highlight for me, and girls, I hope you know just how proud I am of each and every one of you.
Dove Day brought with it that magical blend of tradition and community we look forward to all year. It’s always such a special moment having our families together, and the atmosphere this year was as heart-warming as ever. From the whole House coming together to decorate our marquee, to seeing different year groups sharing picnics and laughter, it’s clear to me just how special Butler House is – a place where community isn’t just a word, but something that truly runs through its heart. Seeing the House united in celebration is a powerful reminder of the unique spirit and sense of belonging that defines Butler. And didn’t we see that spirit in the Raft Race! Despite an unplanned dip from Team B, the real victory was in the laughter, teamwork, and incredible support from the sidelines – to me, you’re all winners.
Of course, GlastonAbbey did not disappoint! From glitter face paint to epic performances in the torrential rain, it was a night to remember. The Butler stage stars, Daphne, Annie, Vivienne, and Siv shone brightly! Bravo to all who performed and danced like nobody was watching (although, rest assured, we were – and we were very impressed!).
Our Lower V House Play had us all roaring with laughter and left a few jaws on the floor with its surprise twist ending. It’s always a joy to see what creative genius the LV conjure up each year, and this time was no exception. Huge congratulations to the cast – what a memorable performance from each of you!
This term’s House Innings was pure fun from start to finish: bubble football, Nerf gun battles, and an epic pizza feast. It was the perfect way to let off steam and enjoy time together as a House – slightly bruised, extremely full, and very happy.
And what better way to round off the year than with Sports Day. From the moment the first races began, Team Butler were a force to be reckoned with. Whether sprinting, jumping, or cheering on from the sidelines, the energy was infectious. Huge congratulations to all who competed – your determination and team spirit made us proud. Special mention must go to Adaobi who smashed her PBs, and to everyone who sported their Butler T shirts with pride. We finished in a brilliant 2nd place, and you are all superstars!
Some special goodbyes:
A heartfelt goodbye to Katya, who leaves us this term. Katya, your gentle presence, quiet kindness, and unwavering loyalty to your friends have been such a special part of life in Butler. You’ve led by example in the most thoughtful way, and we will miss you deeply. Wishing you every success and happiness as you take your next steps – you take a little bit of Butler with you.
We also say farewell to our brilliant Lower VI Mons – a group full of energy, laughter, and infectious spirit. You’ve brought so much fun to the House this year, lifting the mood wherever you go and showing true Butler heart. Whether organising, entertaining, or simply being your bold, brilliant selves, you’ve left a legacy we won’t forget. Clarence are lucky to have you – and don’t be strangers!
This Summer, we also say farewell to three incredible staff members who have given so much to Butler House:
- Miss Krasner – thank you for your warmth, gentleness, and support for us all. From your help with Physics prep to Floor time, you have shown such loyalty to Team Butler. Your presence (and crochet sting rays) will be sorely missed.
- Mrs Rich – your kindness and dedication have made a huge impact, and we are so grateful for all you’ve done across the years. I do not know anyone who works harder than you, and we have been so lucky to share our weekends with you.
- Miss Killow – thank you for bringing so much positivity and fun to House. You have had such a positive influence on Butler House, and you’ve given every single one of us endless encouragement at every event – we wish you all the very best in your next chapter, and we’ll all miss your Anzac cookies!
And now… it’s time for me to say goodbye, too.
Writing this final blog as Housemistress is no easy task. Butler has been my home and my heart for two unforgettable years, and I feel incredibly lucky to have shared this journey with such remarkable young people and an exceptional team of staff. From late-night chats to early morning laughs, from fierce House competitions to quiet moments of kindness, I have treasured it all.
Thank you for letting me be part of your lives. Thank you for trusting me, challenging me, and inspiring me. Butler girls – you are fierce, funny, loyal, and endlessly capable. I am so proud of you, and I will always be cheering you on, wherever I am. Please do come and visit me in Junior: there’s always room for one more duckling under my wing!
