Summer, Summer, Summer Time!

“Success is the sum of small efforts, repeated day in and day out.” — Robert Collier As we reach the end of this half term, these words feel especially fitting for the Wendover girls, whose dedication, resilience, and House Spirit have shaped the weeks behind us. 

Academic Focus and Determination 

Exam season has brought a calm but focused energy to Wendover. Pupils approached their assessments with maturity, making excellent use of study spaces and supporting one another through revision. I would like to especially thank Miss Franks for her patience and expertise with the girls as they asked many question on Classics and Latin, and to Miss Goddard for her many hours helping girls with their French orals (even coming in on her time off to do so!). Mrs Amor has also been a huge help to our girls who take German – who knew she had so many hidden talents! Wendover girls (and me!) are very luck to have such a supportive team around them.  

Alongside their academic efforts, the girls demonstrated a strong commitment to maintaining balance. Walks, creative breaks, weekend activities, and even a lively Eurovision evening helped everyone stay grounded during a demanding period. Their ability to combine hard work with wellbeing has been a real strength this term. 

Community Life and Enrichment 

Despite the pressures of exam season, House life remained full of warmth and activity; from the ever-favourite chips and dips to ice cream sundaes, and even smoothie acai bowls for brain power. Our Wendover girls have been triumphant in Tennis and Cricket matches every weekend and I know they will be shining stars when Sports Day rolls around.  

Welcoming Our New UIII Pupils 

A particularly special moment this half term was welcoming the incoming UIII pupils who will be joining us in September. The UIV girls were outstanding hosts, offering a warm and reassuring introduction to life in Wendover. They also played a very wild scale game of Hide and Seek where not even I could find them! Their kindness and enthusiasm helped the new pupils feel at ease and excited for the year ahead, setting a wonderful tone for their transition into the House.  

Looking Ahead 

As we approach the final weeks of the Academic Year, there is still much to look forward to. Dove Day, GlastonAbbey, our House Chapel service, the Daws Hill House outing to Rush, and the heartfelt farewells to those moving on will all play a part in shaping the closing chapter of the year.
