Pitt Summer Term

This first half of the Summer Term has been busy with the House full of energy, resilience and community spirit. With public examinations the focus for UV, the other year groups are sitting their internal examinations. The girls continue to work incredibly hard however, they have very much enjoyed the wider activities and achievements in House and School.

Clarence

As we went into the first Short Leave, we celebrated the achievements of the UVI Pitt girls through the Clarence Leavers’ Service in Chapel followed by a superb dinner with the girls and their parents. It was such an enjoyable, fabulous evening celebrating everything about the girls as their final send off. Seeing the girls, all dressed up, and ready for university and college makes occasions like this so special.

Exam Season

Exam season is upon us and the girls have truly risen to the challenge. Their hard work, focus and commitment to revision have not gone unnoticed; we are incredibly proud of each and every one of them. The determination on show has been inspiring and together in House, we’ve also found some creative ways to revise from listening to Spanish and German pop music to prepare for MFL speaking exams, to reciting the periodic table along with ASAP Science during Whole School Singing, and even holding impromptu World War Two quiz competitions in the corridors. There’s never a dull moment! To keep motivation levels high, we’ve been spoiling the girls with little pick-me-ups throughout the week – and our special UV treat box has been particularly popular!

Puppy Yoga

In the spirit of keeping stress levels low, we were delighted to welcome Jane from Alternative Balance for a special session of puppy yoga. A litter of ten adorable fox red Labrador puppies joined us for a blissful hour of stretching, mindfulness – and plenty of cuddles. The girls loved it, but we suspect Miss Ley and Mrs Maddison might have enjoyed it even more!

Welcoming Our New UIIIs

This term, we’ve also had the pleasure of beginning to welcome our incoming UIIIs into the House. They’ve begun to join us in Chapel and have met with our current Pitt girls up in House and for supper. It’s been lovely to see the older girls introducing themselves and making them feel at home. We’re already looking forward to more bonding opportunities next half term, including our ever-popular House picnics!

LVI Mons Success

We are absolutely thrilled and delighted beyond words to announce that several of our brilliant LVI girls have been appointed to prestigious school roles next year. Huge congratulations go to:

  • Todi, who has been named Head of School
  • Genevieve, our new Deputy Head of School
  • Melody, taking on the role of School Artist
  • Romy, who will be serving as School Charity Officer

We are so proud of these girls and know they will make a real impact in their new leadership positions.

Wishing all the girls and families a restful and restorative half term break. We can’t wait for all that Summer Term 2 will bring.

LVI Summer Ball

The girls in the LVI recently attended their Summer Ball with the boys from RGS High Wycombe. The girls enjoyed dressing up in their formal attire and certainly looked fabulous! They had the most wonderful evening especially with the addition of games such as table football, frisbee, photo booth and much more.

It is all these events which make the LVI so diverse at Wycombe Abbey. Leading on from the Ball the girls have been taking part in the Leadership Summit, which was a day of team building, leadership skills, thinking outside the box and mixing with the boys from John Hampden to enjoy further activities such as Archery Rampage. Throughout the day the girls were involved in different tasks, and I am delighted to say that several of the Pitt girls were named as exceptional leaders: Melody, Elisabeth and Natalia.

Over the next few days, the LVI are preparing the start of their university and college applications.

And finally…

Whilst the LVI have been enjoying a range of different events, the LIV to LV girls have been sitting their end of year internal exams. With the usual amazing focus and determination along with resilience, they are approaching these exams with positive maturity.

As we near Long Leave, I very much hope that all the girls have the most wonderful restful, relaxing and rejuvenating break. There is much to look forward to in the final few weeks of the academic year.
