Half Term Highlights in Cloister

It’s been a busy and productive half term in Cloister. We began by welcoming three new students into the Lower VI: Chelsea, Bessie, and Elizabeth. Thanks to their buddies Hayat, Vivienne, and Freya for helping them settle in smoothly. We also welcomed the new Lower IV cohort, who have made a strong start in adapting to life in Cloister, learning the routines and traditions of the House quickly.
The Lower VI deserve congratulations for their excellent GCSE results and for stepping into their new roles of responsibility within the House. Their contributions have already made a noticeable difference with new initiatives such as Lower VIth bedtimes and random acts of kindness!
To support the Lower IV as they found their feet, we organised a few introductory activities. The House Mother/Daughter bracelet-making session, complete with snacks, continues to be a popular tradition. Freya, our Deputy Head of House, led a scavenger hunt around Daws Hill to help everyone get familiar with key locations, including the night phone. We also held a House Family canvas-making session, which produced some creative and thoughtful paintings!
The first weekend of term featured an inflatable activity day, including an assault course, zorbing, and a clue challenge. Well done to the Lower V for winning the challenge for Cloister. Other weekend activities have included theatre trips, a campout (relocated to the sports centre due to poor weather), go-karting, and rock climbing.
The rest of the term has passed quickly, with plenty of smaller events and social moments. Highlights have included a cheese board evening, bubble tea, smoothies, and ‘nuggets and a natter’. The Lower VI, led by Hayat, have also organised hot chocolate evenings for the younger girls, which have been well received.
Looking ahead, the next half term is shaping up to be just as full. The Lower IV have been busy building their Guy for Bonfire Night, and the UIV are preparing a performance for House Dance. We also wish the Upper V all the best as they begin preparing for their mock exams later in the Term.
The next half term promises to be even busier as we approach Christmas. The Lower IV have been very busy building their guy and the Upper IV have been preparing a wonderful piece for House Dance. I hope that everyone has a well-deserved rest over Long Leave and look forward to welcoming the girls back in November.
