A New Academic Year in Campbell

I really love the Autumn Term. Wycombe’s many trees are changing colour and the School site is really in its element. We have had a wonderful first Half Term of the Academic Year in Campbell House, seeing the new LIV girls learn about the day-to-day runnings of a Senior House, and enjoy getting to know the older girls in their dorm and their family trees.

Marta and Isla, our Head and Deputy Head of House, had settled beautifully into their roles and it has been a pleasure to see them lead. Their focus this year is ‘Creativity’, and they have already leant into this by creating some lovely artwork for the wall in dispense. We have also seen excellent creativity within the Music department, with a fantastic 26 entries into the yearly WACMF competition (Wycombe Abbey Competitive Music Festival). I was very proud to see Chitsa, Mia, Serena, Alessia and Evie make it into the Sunday finals, with some Highly Commended entries between them.

As well as the new youngest members of the House, we have also been pleased to welcome Lisa, Tracey and Zakia into the Campbell family. Joining as LVI is a whirlwind, and the girls have shared the following reflections on their first Half Term in Campbell House.

Lisa: My first seven weeks at Wycombe Abbey have been an exciting and memorable experience. I’ve really enjoyed settling into Campbell House and the Mons, where everyone has been so friendly and welcoming. The House feels like a second home, and I’ve already made some great friends. The teachers, whether in School or in Campbell are very supportive, and the lessons are both challenging and interesting. Overall, it’s been a fantastic start, and House Cluedo will definitely be a highlight of this term!

Tracey: Everyone here is so nice and friendly, and there’s always something going on which makes every day feel lively. Mons is such a lovely place for us, and it’s always full of laughter. The teachers are all incredibly kind, and if there’s ever something I don’t know, they are always patient and happy to explain. I am really lucky to be in such a welcoming House, and we are so close to School. I’m so excited for the rest of the year!

Zakia: The first seven weeks of the Academic Year have been amazing, and I’ve already learnt so much and gotten to know so many of the people in Campbell. Mons is always such a lively place, and is where I consider my second home with all of LVI. House Cluedo has just is now afoot and the Campbell spirit is high, and I’m glad to be a part of it!

House Cluedo has been a fantastic end of this Half Term. Alessia, our Cluedo Maestro, has watched the House descend into chaos for a week. The game opened at 7:50am on Monday; our first ‘kill’ was at 7:53am, when Ella caught Serena in the Fourth Form study with a hairbrush. At time of writing, there are approximately 10 people still standing, and we are becoming increasingly suspicious of anyone who is holding a tennis racquet and loitering in a particular room!

I wish everyone a lovely Long Leave and am already looking forward to the second Half Term of the Academic Year – but after all of Campbell have had a two-week rest!
