A Term of Achievement, Friendship and Celebration

As the academic year draws to a close, it is hard to believe how quickly the Summer Term has passed. It has been a term filled with laughter, friendship, achievement and unforgettable memories. From dramatic performances and musical celebrations to sporting competitions and cherished House traditions, Campbell girls have embraced every opportunity with enthusiasm, determination and kindness.
One of the things that makes Campbell House so special is the sense of community that runs through everything we do. Whether supporting one another through examinations, performing on stage, representing the House in competitions or simply spending time together in the drawing room, the girls continually demonstrate the warmth, resilience and friendship that make Campbell feel so much like home.
Wendy and Peter Pan
This term several Campbell girls took part in the Fourth Form production of Wendy and Peter Pan. Months of rehearsals culminated in a wonderful performance that showcased not only the girls’ acting talents but also their commitment, teamwork and willingness to challenge themselves.
As Clodagh reflected, one of the most rewarding aspects of the production was the opportunity to work with pupils from different year groups and form friendships that may never otherwise have happened. The excitement backstage, the nerves before stepping onto the stage and the sense of achievement after each performance all contributed to a memorable experience.
Mabel delighted audiences as Tom Darling, Annabelle brought great energy and humour to the role of the pirate Knock Bone Jones, while Vivian embraced life as one of the Lost Boys of Neverland. For Clodagh, learning stage combat was a particular highlight, while performing lifts in front of a live audience became one of her most memorable moments. We are incredibly proud of all the girls who took part and grateful to Ms Jones for bringing such a fantastic production to life.
Dove Day
Dove Day once again proved to be one of the highlights of the school year. Blessed with glorious sunshine and blue skies, the entire Wycombe Abbey community came together to celebrate one of the school’s most treasured traditions.
The day began with preparations around the Campbell marquee before pupils, staff and families gathered for Chapel. Throughout the day there was a wonderful atmosphere of excitement and celebration as girls proudly welcomed parents into the heart of school life.
The much-anticipated raft races brought plenty of excitement to the lakeside. Campbell girls approached the challenge with their trademark enthusiasm, determination and teamwork. Supported by cheering crowds of parents, staff and friends, the girls gave everything they had, demonstrating resilience, courage and House spirit from start to finish.
Away from the water, girls enjoyed picnics with their families, watched performances from talented singers and musicians, and participated enthusiastically in the afternoon’s activities. The tug-of-war brought out the competitive side of many girls, who battled bravely while teammates and spectators offered encouragement from the sidelines. The ever-popular dog show provided plenty of laughter and entertainment, adding to the relaxed and joyful atmosphere.
Perhaps what makes Dove Day so special is the way it brings together every part of the Wycombe Abbey community. Seeing girls, parents and staff enjoying one another’s company in the sunshine served as a wonderful reminder of the friendships and connections that make boarding life so rewarding. It was a day filled with laughter, teamwork and memories that will undoubtedly stay with us for years to come.
GlastonAbbey
The celebrations continued the following day with GlastonAbbey, one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the Summer Term. This annual music festival gives pupils the opportunity to showcase their talents, and Campbell girls certainly rose to the occasion.
Months of rehearsals, practice sessions and quiet determination paid off as performers took to the stage in front of enthusiastic audiences. Bernice, Marta, Isla and Sia captivated listeners with their beautiful singing voices, performing with confidence and maturity, while Gabby and Eletta demonstrated the rewards of their hard work through accomplished performances on guitar and bass.
What stood out most was not only the quality of the performances but also the support shown by the Campbell community. Girls could be seen cheering loudly from the audience, celebrating one another’s successes and encouraging performers before they stepped onto the stage. The atmosphere throughout the day was one of genuine pride and friendship.
GlastonAbbey is always a wonderful reminder that success comes not only from talent but also from dedication, perseverance and the courage to perform in front of others. We are incredibly proud of all the girls who took part and grateful for the joy, energy and creativity they brought to the event.
Games, Games, and Games!
The Summer Term has also been a busy one on the sports field. Whether competing in rounders, cricket, or something else, Campbell girls have represented the House with determination, commitment and excellent sportsmanship.
Training sessions throughout the term saw girls working hard to improve their skills, support their teammates and prepare for competition. While victories are always celebrated, what impressed us most was the resilience and positivity shown by the girls, regardless of the result.
The girls’ commitment to training, willingness to encourage others and determination during matches have been wonderful examples of the qualities we value in Campbell House. Time and again, they demonstrated the ability to work together, support one another and keep fighting for every run, catch and wicket.
The sporting successes of the term have reflected not only individual talent but also the strong sense of teamwork that exists within the House. The girls should be extremely proud of everything they have achieved.
House Inning
With temperatures soaring towards the end of term, the Campbell girls looked forward to one of the highlights of the House calendar – House Inning. The evening brought girls from every year group together to relax, have fun and celebrate the end of another busy and successful year. One of the most popular activities was the water fight on the lawn, where girls armed with water pistols and buckets embraced the summer heat with enthusiasm. Filled with laughter, good humour and a little friendly rivalry, it was a joyful reminder that some of the happiest moments come from simply spending time together.
Following the excitement, everyone gathered to enjoy a pizza supper, providing an opportunity to chat, reflect on the term and enjoy each other’s company. The evening concluded with a film, which proved to be a great success. The girls thoroughly enjoyed watching it together, with plenty of laughter and shared reactions making it the perfect ending to a memorable evening.
While the water fight, pizza and film were all enjoyed by everyone, it was the sense of community that made House Inning so special. Bringing girls of all ages together, the evening celebrated the friendships, kindness and shared experiences that lie at the heart of Campbell House. As the summer holiday approached, it was a fitting way to round off another wonderful year and create lasting memories that the girls will take with them long after term has ended.
Farewell to Our LVI Girls
As always, the end of the year brings goodbyes, and this year we prepare to say farewell to a truly exceptional group of LVI girls.
Marta, our Head of House, and Isla, our Deputy Head of House, have led Campbell with kindness, maturity and dedication throughout the year. Alongside Eletta, Vanessa, Sia, Yimika, Lisa, Zakia, Mia, Tracey and Freya, they have helped create the warm, welcoming and supportive environment that defines life in Campbell.
These girls have been outstanding role models for younger pupils, always ready to offer encouragement, advice or simply a listening ear. Whether helping new girls settle into boarding life, participating enthusiastically in House events or supporting one another through challenges, they have embodied the values that make Campbell such a special place.
Their laughter, friendship and leadership have left a lasting impact on the House, and while we will miss them enormously, we are excited to see what the future holds for each of them. We thank them for everything they have contributed to Campbell and wish them every success and happiness as they begin their next chapter.
As the term comes to an end, we look back with enormous pride on everything the girls have achieved. We also look forward to welcoming new faces in September and creating many more memories together. Until then, we wish all members of the Campbell community a restful and happy summer.
