Time to say goodbye…
26 June 2026 - Wendover

As much as we look forward to the summer holiday, it always feels bittersweet as it means there are a few goodbyes to say. Our wonderful Lower Sixth girls are heading to the bright lights of Clarence House and we are so sad to see them go. I have been fortunate enough to get to know them over the past two years and they have been a huge part of why I love being the Housemistress of Wendover. They have all been exceptional role models to the younger girls; running activities, mopping up tears and bringing an extreme amount of House Spirit. An extra special thank you has to go to Maddie who has been an incredible Head of House and right-hand man to Miss Franks and I. We also have to say a very sad goodbye to some members of Wendover staff: Miss Goddard, Ms Small and Mrs Morrisby. I am so fortunate to work alongside such wonderful staff in Wendover and these three will be missed hugely! Here are some lovely goodbye messages from the LVI and some staff.
Jemima: Over the past four years, Wendover has really become my home away from home. From conversations with the wonderful House staff after a long day, to seeing younger girls flourish and grow, Wendover is a community that is truly unlike any other, and I will miss it so much in Clarence. But I know that Long corridor and its familiar faces will still welcome me if I pop by, and that at every House competition I will still bleed red; so while it might be farewell to the trek up Daws Hill, it’s not farewell to the Wendover spirit.

Alice: Wendover has been a home filled with laughter and memories that I will cherish forever. I am eternally grateful to have been surrounded by such wonderful girls and staff, whose kindness and warmth have meant so much to me. I especially want to thank Mrs Woodward, Miss Franks and Mrs Amor, who have looked after me so patiently and supported me through my struggles. One of the most beautiful things about this house is the close bond we share with each other, where everyone looks after one another and make each other feel included. It feels very bittersweet to leave this big family and everyone who has been so dear to me, but I am also leaving with so much love and gratitude. I am extremely thankful for all the friendships that have bloomed during my time here; Wendover will always have a very special place in my heart.
Sula: The Wendover community has been so special to me and such a core memory of my past four years at school. I will miss being in a mixed age dorm and all the friendships made through hair-braiding sessions, midnight chats and card games before bed. My favourite memory of this year is probably our weekly Summer I Turned Pretty watch parties in the Autumn Term. Although I am sad that this is my last term in Wendover, I can’t wait to cheer you all on and see everything you achieve next year! #WINdover #houseshoutwinners2027??

Maddie: My time in Wendover has been nothing short of incredible. This House and its people will always have a special place in my heart, and it has been such a pleasure being a part of this community!!
Jade: Wendover has honestly been one of the highlights of my time at Wycombe. The House staff here are genuinely some of the kindest people I’ve ever met, and all the little things they do every day make the house feel like an actual home. I’ll definitely miss the climb up to Daws Hill — it felt endless at first, but eventually just became part of being in Daws Hill.
Proud: Even though I have only been at Wycombe for a year, I have felt truly welcomed and supported by the Wendover community, ever since my first day here. My favourite memory was seeing the success of our bonfire night stall this year!! I will really miss being in Daws Hill, and I will keep cheering everyone on!!

Kelly: Being in Wendover has been amazing and, in particular, this year in Mons has been so fun. I am so proud of everything we’ve achieved as a House (especially in House Shout). Although I will not miss the walk up Daws Hill, I will definitely miss the House spirit, the toasty Tuesdays and waking up to Miss Franks’ singing. The community here is wonderful, and I am so grateful to all the staff and other people who made this place feel like home. My four years in Wendover is truly something I will remember forever.
Navika: Having spent the last five years as part of this house, the thing I’ll miss most is the sense of community that defines Wendover and what I have felt so strongly throughout my years of being both a day girl and a boarder; some of my happiest memories are from House outings or Christmas lunches, along with being part of every House sports team I can think of. My highlight this year was definitely becoming House Sports Captain and winning house sport in Autumn term! I am so sad to be leaving Wendover but I know I’ll be back to visit often next year!

Mrs Morrisby: It has been such a pleasure to be the House Tutor for Wendover over the past four years. From Toastie Thursdays to endless bedtime reminders, it has been incredibly rewarding to get to know the pupils more. The meaningful conversations in Long Corridor, multiple rehearsals of performances and many laughs together will be deeply missed. Wendover encompasses what it means to be a Wycombe Abbey pupil, prioritising kindness, resilience, playfulness and sisterhood. The uplifting atmosphere, great sense of camaraderie and powerful friendships have been particularly special to witness each week, fostering the wonderful community that has made Wycombe Abbey such a privilege to be a part of.
Miss Goddard: Where do I even begin? I am going to miss the girls and staff at Wendover so much! From the moment I arrived, they made me feel incredibly welcome with their kindness, warmth and support. Over time, Wendover truly became a second family to me. I have loved being part of the girls’ lives, seeing their smiling faces each day, listening to their stories and sharing in both little and big moments. Although it is difficult to say goodbye, I feel so grateful to have been part of their Wycombe Abbey journey and will leave with countless wonderful memories that I will cherish forever. Thank you to everyone at Wendover for making my time there so special. I wish all the girls and staff every happiness and success in the future. I will miss you all more than words can say.
