Cloister

Summer term in Cloister

We’ve had such a lovely and busy half term in Cloister, and it honestly feels as though the weeks have flown by. It doesn’t seem long ago that everyone arrived back after the Easter break, refreshed and full of energy for the start of the Summer Term. Since then, the House has been full of activity, laughter, and plenty of hard work as the girls settled back into School life.

With exams taking place this term, there has naturally been a more focused atmosphere around the House. The girls have approached everything with real determination and maturity, supporting each other through revision sessions, coursework, and assessments. It has been especially nice to see girls revising together in the evenings and encouraging one another through the busier moments of term.

What has been so great this half term is the way everyone has balanced their academic responsibilities with making the most of House life. Alongside revision and exams, the girls have thrown themselves into a range of activities both in Cloister and across the wider School community. From House events and evening activities, to simply spending time together after a busy day, there has been such a positive atmosphere throughout the term.

The sense of community in Cloister has been especially strong over the past few weeks. There have been so many moments of kindness and encouragement between the girls, whether it was helping each other with revision, checking in after exams, or just sharing a few laughs at the end of the day. It has been wonderful to see friendships continue to grow across the year groups, with older girls always ready to offer support and reassurance to the younger members of the House.

Some of the Cloister girls have reflected on the term so far. You can see their comments below:

“This half of the Summer Term has been filled with so much kindness and support. Thanks to our caring House staff and encouraging friends, what could have been a stressful half term ended up feeling really positive and manageable. As some of the youngest girls in the House, we especially appreciated all the support and encouragement we received from the older girls, who were always there with advice, reassurance, or simply a friendly smile.”

“Although exams are often associated with stress and pressure, everyone really helped each other through it. Whether it was revising together, checking in after exams, or offering kind words before a test, there was always someone around to make things feel a little easier.”

“One of the highlights of the half term has definitely been the weekly Daws Hill Rounders evenings. It was such a good way to take a break from revision, spend time outside, and enjoy some friendly competition between the three Houses. We loved playing with our House families, cheering each other on, and having fun together. We’re so grateful to our Resident Tutors for organising it all for us.”

“Throughout the term, our House staff have also put so much effort into planning evening activities and giving us opportunities to relax and enjoy time together away from our desks. Those little moments really made a difference during such a busy half term.”
