Autumn Term in Clarence
17 October 2025 - Clarence

On Monday 1 September, I had the privilege of welcoming the now Upper Sixth to Clarence. Whilst it was a rather daunting task to learning 82 new names, I at least had the advantage that I met them during the induction programme at the end of last term. We started the term with a year group trip to Monopoly Lifesized, a change to get together before lessons, progress tests, UCAS all began. There is always a buzz about starting in Clarence and I am extremely lucky to have four fantastic Clarence Chairs this year. I asked them each to write a short paragraph about what they have enjoyed so far:

I think I speak for everyone when I say that settling into Clarence has been one of the best parts of my Wycombe Abbey journey. Being with the whole year group again and bonding with them through events such as Clarence Bar has been super entertaining and chaotic in the best way. One of my highlights so far has been the weekly treats, especially the Colin the Caterpillars and hot chocolate nights, which have gotten me through the bustling first half of term. I’ve had so much fun so far, and I look forward to making lots of memories over the coming year! – Morade

Settling into Clarence, has been so much fun. Gaining more independence, bonding with the year group over cooking, and going for a coffee some afternoons has helped enhance my experience of Wycombe and been a lifeline through some challenging weeks. We all can’t wait for ‘treat or treat’ with the younger girls and look forward to what the rest of term will bring! – Sophie

Since moving into Clarence, I have easily spent the vast majority of my time in my kitchen with the rest of my house. We all enjoy cooking together, which although very chaotic, is very fun and a good bonding experience. I have attended CalSoc, which was a very amusing afternoon full of laughs. Finally, another activity that we’ve found ourselves doing quite a lot is playing pool together (even if we don’t play particularly well). – Sophie

Settling into Clarence has been an exciting experience. From fire alarms caused by burnt toast to surprisingly successful tacos, I have really enjoyed making the most of the house kitchens and unwinding after a busy day by cooking with friends. Another highlight of the start of the year has been the restarting of Cal-Soc practices. It has been brilliant seeing so many of the year try out reeling! I’m looking forward to bonding even more as a year group, especially with the upcoming treat or treat night with the UIIIs! – Gabby

It has been a real pleasure to get to know the year group over the last few weeks and I look forward to supporting them and watching them grow throughout the rest of year. I hope you enjoy the “last first day of school” photos.
