Getting the Balance Right!

The return of the Summer Term is always a welcome one. With longer, lighter evenings and the warmth of the sun finally making a regular appearance, there’s a renewed energy in the air. It’s a time when the Junior House garden truly comes into its own, buzzing with activity, laughter, and the unmistakable joy of being outdoors. The girls have been making the most of every opportunity, diving into a vibrant mix of summer activities that have brought both excitement and a sense of community.

From spirited sports fixtures to relaxing outside, our time outside of lessons and academic work has been full. Most weekends have seen our pupils taking part in Athletics, Tennis, and Cricket matches, showcasing not only their skills but also their sportsmanship and team spirit. Beyond the playing fields, we’ve had some memorable adventures too including a campout with the LIV, that provided an opportunity to get to know pupils from the year above in a relaxed and new environment, while an ice cream and scenic boat trip in Windsor offered a peaceful escape and a chance to appreciate the beauty of the local scenery.

As the half term drew to a close, focus shifted to exam preparation. It’s a time that can often feel intense, but this term we’ve placed a strong emphasis on balance. Yes, revision is important, but so is wellbeing. We’ve encouraged the girls to find a rhythm that works for them – one that includes focused study sessions, but also moments of joy, rest, and creativity. For those who stayed in over the weekend, a session of puppy yoga proved to be the perfect antidote to stress, combining gentle movement with the undeniable comfort of furry companionship.

Of course, no term would be complete without a few well-earned treats. Alongside the contents of our ever popular and motivational tuck boxes, we have enjoyed a few extra indulgences including ice pops on sunny evenings, surprise donuts, and classic ice cream cones that brought smiles all around. These little moments of delight have helped keep spirits high and energy levels up.

Looking ahead, there’s still so much to be excited about. In the first week back, the UIII will take to the stage for their much-anticipated play Victorian World; a wonderful opportunity for the Junior House girls to showcase their teamwork, and confidence. Then, as the Term draws to a close, we will be rounding things off with the highlight of the summer: the Residential to Wales in the final week. It promises to be a week full of adventure, bonding, and unforgettable memories. As we move into this final stretch, we’re holding onto that all-important sense of balance; working hard, embracing new experiences, and making the most of every moment this vibrant term has to offer.
