Butler House Blog – Summer Term 2
School’s Out For Summer!
These final weeks of the year have been absolutely teeming with events and celebrations, and how lucky we are to have such a joy-filled last term.
The Upper V finally reached the end of their GCSEs and we waved them off into their holidays early. We wish them a relaxing break from such a mammoth task of studying, and I know that they will have the Summer of bliss. Good luck for Results Day, Upper V! We look forward to welcoming you back in September in your new Mons roles.
Meanwhile, those left in the House were wonderful in the Butler House Chapel Service. The speakers gave thoughtful and reflective sermons, and Miss Sunil and I watched on proudly as everyone united in singing their House Anthem, ‘Roar’.
It was with great delight that the Lower V attended the Dove Awards Celebration Evening, and the year group enjoyed pizza and ice cream whilst they revelled in their successes and accomplishments from the last three terms. Congratulations to Coco, Vera and Ellie who were all recognised for flourishing this year – we are so proud of you.
And the celebrations didn’t stop there, because House Mothers and Daughters were finally announced! I know that the Lower V will be brilliant role models for the incoming Butlers, and I am sure everyone cannot wait to settle into their House families. The Lower V hosted the final picnic of the term with the Butler Upper IIIs, and they really loved spending an evening bonding together. It’s not long to go before you’re officially moving in, Upper III, and we are excited to have you here.
House Tennis Funals followed shortly after, and Butler placed a very respectable 3rd place. Well done to everyone who played!
Before we knew it, we had reached the final week of term, and what better way to reflect on the year gone by than with a whole week of marvellous events in glorious weather? We launched into the Closed Weekend with Dove Day. It really is my favourite event in the School calendar and it felt very special to have all the Butler families together for such a joyous occasion. GlastonAbbey was as grand as ever too, and the crowd loved rocking away in the sunset with a great line up, glitter paint, and candy floss. Bravo to Esther, Katya, Lucy, Annie and Elizabeth who all gave fierce performances. I was blown away!
The Lower V play was also great fun. It certainly came together on the night, and it had great comedic delivery. What a plot twist! Well done to Katya for directing, and to all involved for their witty performances.
House Outing was another brilliant festivity, and we all enjoyed a boat trip along The Thames from Windsor. We were blessed with glorious weather for an evening filled with more celebration and a chance for the Butler community to rejoice in each other’s company.
Similarly, Sports Day was a great success. It was great to see everyone encouraging each other on, and several exciting events had us all cheering at the sidelines. Well done to everyone for their efforts and triumphs on the day. Summer achieved a new School Record, and many of Team Butler hit some new Personal Bests. We were delighted when Butler placed 3rd in the Relay Cup, 2nd in the Juniors Cup, and a phenomenal 2nd place overall. Congratulations Butler! We were rewarded with the Whole School BBQ at the end of the day to replenish our energy levels. What a treat!
And with the final House Order, the last Chapel and the closing Mark Reading of the term, that’s another School year over. What a blast we’ve had. It’s been the most memorable year for me and a real highlight in my career so far. What a dream it has been to take over Butler House and spend time with such delightful, passionate, talented young women. It truly is an honour to be your Housemistress. I wish each and every one of you a beautiful summer filled with adventure and excitement, and I cannot wait to see you all again in September.
Some special goodbyes
Thank you and goodbye to Edie who joined us from Australia this term. It was such fun to have you in Butler and I hope you’ve enjoyed your exchange experience. Well done for throwing yourself into life here – you’ve been fantastic!
Farewell to Tiffany who leaves us for her new Sixth Form – but we know she’ll stay in touch! Good luck in your GCSEs, I have no doubt that great things are heading your way!
Also leaving us this term are Alice, Lucy, and Simona who go on to start their GCSE courses elsewhere. Goodbye and good luck to all of you. It has been a pleasure to celebrate with each of you in this final week. Your new schools don’t yet know how lucky they will be to have you!
We must also say a fond farewell to our wonderful Lower VI Mons. Luckily, you’ll all be just across the way in Clarence, so we look forward to seeing you when you come back to visit. Please know that your Butler family will be cheering you on in this ultimate step in your Wycombe journey. Thank you all for everything you have done for Butler – we shall miss you!
