Rubens House Blog Summer Term 2nd Half

It’s finally here. The long awaited Summer holidays; and what an incredibly joyful and pink time we have had in Rubens. Rubens House was very excited to get back into the swing of celebrating our founder Dame Frances Dove after a three year break from the festivities due to Covid. Arguably the biggest celebratory day in the diary, Dove Day 2022 did not disappoint. Between the face painting; bacon butties; ice cream; dog show; gym display; House marquees; Wycombe Abbey cupcakes and the review show, it’s clear that Wycombe was ready to party this term. The Rubens team were ready to get the festivities under way and were very happy to see so many of our pink family take part in the day.

The biggest task for Rubens was to prepare and decorate our House tent for an anticipated 120 guests. As one of the larger senior Houses, this was a huge undertaking and the girls did a brilliant job of turning the blank canvas of the tent into a pink, Percy Pig filled tent of fun. The 4th and 6th form were particularly brilliant at sharing their decoration skills so that Rubens could win the title of best dressed tent.

Special praise and recognition should also be given to Annamaria and Dottie in Rubens LIV who made all of the Percy Pig Themed centre pieces for each table.

Thank you very much for all your efforts here girls! They were ably supported by some of our UV Laila, Annabel and Aanya who ensured that the pink decorative sweets and balloons were evenly distributed.

Rubens also made a superior House hamper ready for the raffle – decorated with our mascot Percy Pig, the hamper was big and heavy and full of everything pink and brilliant including pink prosecco, a Percy Pig cushion and a Unicorn back Pack. Many thanks to Ayla in the LVI for putting this all together.

The biggest success of the day was for the Tug of War team who came in a strong 3rd position overall. Many thanks to our LVI House Captain Ginny who lead her team to a convincing bronze position, proving once again that Rubens are “quite good”.

Following Dove Day, Wycombe hosted our own version of Glastonbury which featured many of the talented and brilliant girls from Rubens. Sky (U4), Zyva (U4), Maddie (L5), Ambika (L5) were absolutely brilliant. Well done to all of those who took part in Glastonabbey!

The end of the Summer term also means a final farewell to our 6th form. Goodbye to our brilliant LVI leaders of the House. We will miss your humour, enthusiasm and joy in the Rubens family. We want you to remember that Rubens will always be your home from home and that your sisterhood will always be here if you need us during your time in Clarence. A particularly heartfelt thank you to our Head of House Kizzy and Deputy Bea and House Captain, Ginny. You all fulfilled your roles with such style and grace and have been amazing role models to your younger pink sisters. Thank you to the whole Sixth Form for everything you have brought to our House; go out there and be brilliant girls!
