Pitt Summer Term

Newsletter

As we wrap up this Academic Year, the Pitt House staff team would like to extend a huge “well done” to all our girls for their outstanding work and positive attitudes. We have so much to celebrate, from world-class sporting achievements and incredible academic work, to feats of engineering, art and charity. With so much that our girls have participated in this year, we hope that you all enjoy a much-deserved rest over the Summer, and come back ready to get stuck in again in September. With the arrival of some much-needed sunshine, we’ve rounded off the year with some exciting events, celebrating both old and new friendships.

Farewell!

With the term coming to a close, we bid a fond farewell to some cherished members of our Pitt family. Whether the girls are heading to Clarence or exploring new horizons, we wish them all the luck in the world. Remember, Pitt will always be your home, and we look forward to seeing you again—so pop back for a Fruity Friday! To Tia, Polina, Arabella, Zoe, Catherine, Chung Yu, Georgie, Bea, Xi-Xi, Masha, Amelia, Nadia, Caterina, Thaisa, Alicia, Gisele, Audrey, Emily, Flo, Allegra, Amy, and Aminta, we wish you all the best!

We say ‘Goodbye’ to Miss Harris who has been with us in Pitt for two years as RT and Senior RT. She has been a wonderful supporter of the girls and has been amazing with the activities that she has led. Miss Harris will be hugely missed.

We said a fond farewell to Miss Leslie and Ms McLellan this week who have been our dedicated and cornerstone of the house as our day matrons. They have both worked tirelessly in the care, support and guidance of the girls. It has been a privilege to have them as part of the team.

Welcome!

We were delighted to continue to spend time with our newest Pitt girls and parents during this term, as they get to know the House and Staff. We introduced a delightful new tradition: the “Pitt Picnic,” held on various Wednesday evenings. Our most recent event saw girls from Upper III and Lower V come together for the first time, sharing a picnic supper followed by games on the lawn. We are thrilled to see our older girls welcoming the newest members of Pitt, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and camaraderie.

House Plays

The final Monday of term saw the Lower V girls take to the stage in LAC to perform their entry for the House Plays competition. Tasked with writing, producing, and performing a piece based on the backstory of a famous villain, our girls delivered in typical Pitt style. Dressed in yellow ,with bananas in hand, they brought the story of Vector, the aspiring villain from Despicable Me, to life with humour and creativity. A special thank you to Olivia and Mia for their tireless work in writing and producing the piece. Well done, everyone!

Interhouse Maths Competition

This term featured the Interhouse Maths competition, a thrilling new addition to our calendar and a great opportunity for Pitt to showcase their skills and teamwork. A huge well done to Mable, Suri, Sissie, and Tina for bringing their A-game! The quality of mathematicians at the event was described as ‘outstanding,’ and we are thrilled that our girls placed joint 2nd. Well done, ladies—we are so proud of you!

Pitt Party

We also celebrated the end of the year with our inaugural Pitt Party! Mrs. Pearce cooked her final risotto of the year and prepared delicious lemon cheesecakes, which we enjoyed with some lively party tunes. This festive occasion was the perfect way to cap off a fantastic term and Academic Year.

Pitt House Outing

In the final week of term, the girls enjoyed a wonderful outing to Bluegrass BBQ for some mouthwatering food, followed by a fun evening of bowling in town. Despite the heat, the girls were in high spirits and had a fantastic time!

Sports Day

On the penultimate day of term, Sports Day took place with the girls cheering each other on at full volume all day in the bright sunshine. The sportsmanship displayed both on and off the track was incredible to witness, with equal cheers for those in first place and those further down the line. In the end, we performed exceptionally well—a true testament to the house spirit on display. We placed 3rd in the Tug of War, won the House Relay Cup (with a huge congratulations to EA, Maria, Fizz, and Sophie for setting a new school record for the Junior Relay), won the Junior Cup, and took home the overall cup! Congratulations to all our athletes! A massive thank you to Arabella and Caterina for organizing the teams, and well done to everyone involved. What a way to kickstart the Summer!
