  • Charmaine as Head of Orchestra

Looking ahead to September, we give a very warm welcome to the Junior House pupils who will be joining Butler LIV, moving up from UIII – Alice, Andrea, Yasmina, Inaayat, Lucy, Simona, Cecelia and Cynthia. We look forward to getting to know you over the coming months and introducing you to your House families next term.

Butler has been bustling with activity in the lead up to Easter. Rehearsals were under way for the House Shout singing competition with our Pitch Perfect rendition and our netball and lacrosse teams have fought tough competition ahead of Funals to decide the champion. Well done to the First House team who have been undefeated in the preliminary rounds! House Games is a weekly favourite, bringing together pupils of all ages within the House to represent Butler in traditional key team sports as well as others such as volleyball, dance and table tennis.

Butler musical talent shone this term with Lynn as drummer and Yuna on the bass guitar at the Harrow School Rock Soc event where encores were requested unanimously! Their band also qualified for the Battle of the Bands finals.

A huge well done must also go to Chloe who won the Junior section of the South East Schools Chamber Music Concert as part of the Piano Trio and to Charmaine who reached the finals. It has been a pleasure to support many lunchtime concerts in preparation for music exams this term, particularly Cara ahead of her piano diploma.

Sporting success has continued with Lara (UV) being part of the winning U18 Regional Tennis Squad. Contributions to County Lacrosse wins have also been given by Clemmie, Esme, Esther, Tallulah, Tracey and Freya B. Well done everyone! We wish Lucy all the best in the giant slalom races at the ESF French National Championships, ‘SkiOpen Coq d’Or’ during the holiday.

We can’t forget Samaira’s performance in the School Musical of Sister Act; a great Saturday night at the theatre! It was a fun-filled production and a big achievement to pull together after many postponements over the last couple of years. LAMDA, music and dance exams have all taken place over the past few weeks so a big well done to all who have worked hard to prepare for these milestone moments.

Another memorable occasion has been Catherine’s Confirmation with family, friends and teachers. Congratulations on this special event.

In celebration of Shrove Tuesday, we gathered around the kitchen table to feast on pancakes! This is a popular evening in Butler, providing a chance to come together and reflect on what we would sacrifice or aim for during Lent.

Friday night highlights have been milkshake making and pizza roll creating but healthier ‘sticks and chips’ evening with lighter options of vegetables and nachos was also greeted with equal enthusiasm.

It has been a lively end of term, particularly over the Closed Weekend with roller discos, silent discos, Moulin Rouge themed evenings and an Easter egg hunt! Well done to our House Quiz team consisting of Maddy, Daphne, Livi and Samaira, battling against other Houses with their general knowledge in a University Challenge style format. It was great to watch!

We wish you a wonderful holiday and a very happy Easter!
