Evenings in Junior House

Junior House is a busy and vibrant place to live and work. We enjoy celebrating all of our pupils’ achievements and like nothing better than taking part in the many activities available in House to help entertain and boost our wellbeing. This term we have made a range of fun additions to our weekly evening schedule.

We have a different weekly activity each week, set up on a table in the Dining Room. This allows everyone to have the opportunity to get involved, whatever night they happen to be free. The activities range from poster and bracelet making to Origami and this half term we even had a go at stone painting as part of Mental Health Awareness week.

Commendations are always popular with the girls and to celebrate a commendation, there has been a long tradition of a sweet treat and termly prize draw, however this term we have added some new options! Stickers, mini rubbers and clips. Mrs Short has the privilege of being the keeper of the Jars and finding a new sticker to add to a laptop or water bottle is now a Thursday evening highlight!

A hot drink or evening snack is an important part of the evening for everyone in Junior House and we have always enjoyed a combination of Tuck and Hot Chocolate nights. This term we have added ‘Tea and Toast Tuesdays’ this is a fantastic opportunity to relax, unwind and catch up with friends after a busy day.

There are also plenty of visitors in House each evening to have a chat or enjoy an activity including the assistant Chaplain and our House Tutor, an array of older girls and even the School counsellors enjoy popping in for a visit. Amongst the older pupils who visit regularly, we see the LIV mentors, LVI Lower School Prefects and our fantastic House Captain Izzy. It is lovely to see the older girls sharing their own Junior House experiences and offering advice and friendship A special mention must however go to our favourite visitors, who thrive on all the attention. Mrs Short’s dogs . . . who can compete with four legs and a waggly tail!
