Christmas

Wycombe Abbey is a fantastic place to be at Christmas. And this year our Christmas season started early on the 23rd November when the girls from Junior House were invited to help Mrs Duncan switch on the main School Christmas tree lights. With gingerbread and hot chocolate to enjoy it was Junior House’s first opportunity to see how much the School embraces everything to do with Christmas and while this was certainly the first Christmas tree of the season it was not going to be the last.

In tutor time Mrs Harbour set this year’s Christmas decorating challenge, with each tutor group decorating trees in their Senior House colours. They were fantastic in their creativity, and Mr Woods has done the judging ready to announce the winner in in Big School.

In House each year we create decorations for the All Saints Christmas Tree festival, this year we chose angels as the theme for our tree. It has been a fun project to work on and I have been so impressed by the variety and quality of designs.

We were also able to use these to decorate the trees in Chapel during our Carol Service before taking them to display on the tree at All Saints.

The fifth and possibly the most important tree would be the Junior House tree, proudly displayed at the front of the House and a beacon of light as we walk up the hill on the frosty and dark evenings in the final few weeks of term.

It has been obvious to all of us living in Junior House, how much the pupils have enjoyed their first festive season in school, but you don’t have to take my word for it, below are some of the Junior House pupils highlights from their first Christmas at Wycombe Abbey.

My Junior House highlight was the Christmas lunch and Christmas party. The lunch was amazing and the layout and setting were incredible, I had lots of fun with all my friends in Junior House.
