An ‘Egg-cellent’ Term!

As ever, Wendover has been buzzing with colour and creativity this term. From the moment World Book Day arrived, with costumes ranging from the impressively literary to the delightfully chaotic, it was clear we were in for another Half Term of memorable House moments. The Lacrosse House Funals (or should I say fun finals) brought their usual blend of determination and laughter, proving once again that Wendover girls can sprint, scoop and score with style. Alongside the sporting excitement, our weekly House Activities have been thriving: delicate flower making (which I hope some of you enjoyed for Mother’s Day!), the ever popular crepe making, Toastie Tuesdays and Fruity Fridays continued their reign as the most anticipated weekday traditions, and our Lower Sixth Thursday Takeovers were excellent; each one a testament to the imagination and enthusiasm that define our House.
The Wendover girls performed exceptionally well at Lacrosse Nationals, showing real skill and determination throughout the competition. A special mention goes to Navika, Mia, Pippa, Theodora and Martha, each of whom delivered standout moments that helped drive the team forward. We were also delighted to see Maddie P and Kelly take part in the Eton Choral Concert; their confident and expressive performance represented Wycombe Abbey beautifully.
One of the standout moments of the Term was the brilliant Whole School Musical, ‘Guys and Dolls’. Wendover was out in full force, both on stage and in the audience, and what a show it was. Our very own Jemima lit up the stage as Adelaide, delivering a performance full of charm and wit. Ottilie stunned as Sky, bringing charisma and vocal power to a role that demands both. Their chemistry and talent made them a joy to watch. And they weren’t alone; Lynn and Mika gave standout performances as part of the Missionary Band, bringing heart and harmony to every scene they touched. The production was a triumph, and seeing our Wendover girls shine so brightly made me incredibly proud. Even more uplifting was the cheering from the rest of Wendover in the audience, a true display of our never fading House Spirit.
As we approached the end of term, the celebrations only grew. Our House Inning was a whirlwind of joy: sushimaking that revealed some surprisingly skilled (and some delightfully chaotic) rolling techniques, karaoke sessions that proved Wendover has no shortage of vocal enthusiasm, and ice cream that disappeared at record speed. But the most eagerly awaited event, of course, has been the House Shout performance. I am already bursting with pride at the work Kelly and Maddie have poured into crafting a moving and heartfelt rendition of ‘Just the Way You Are’ by Bruno Mars. I’ve lost count of the harmonies they have woven in, and the result rivals the best of the show choirs. Their leadership and dedication have shaped something truly special, and I am pleased to say we came in third place! We are also proud winners of the Commendation Shield this term! An excellent achievement indeed!
Thank you for all of your support this Term. It has certainly been a busy one for the girls, and they have handled every challenge with real composure. As we move into the Summer Term, this is a valuable moment for them to reflect on everything they have achieved, and then turn their attention to doing their best in the fast approaching summer examinations. I wish you a wonderful Easter break.
